Was very fortunate to visit Kilrush Boat Yard and the workshops of Steve Morris this week. Met up with Steve and his crew including Dan Mills. It is truly an honor to witness the skills of shipwrights creating spectacular wooden craft in the guise of the Dublin Bay 21’s. The rebuilds are true to the original drawings and the original keels with a little tidying up are being refitted. Where some materials are salvageable they are added to generate as much authenticity as possible.
It is true about what they say about well faired black hulls your reflection is good enough to shave with and they look oh so elegant.
A very important bit of Irish history is being archived by Steve and his team preserving a truly elegant fleet for generations to come.
